Hawaii!! (Day 1)

We got up bright and early and headed happily to the airport for our fun trip to Oahu. With one stroller, one car seat, three backpacks and 2 checked roller bags, we were backed to capacity, but still very mobile. So mobile, in fact, that we are opted to walk from long term parking to the terminal to get some exercise before the plane ride. We even had time to eat breakfast before rushing to the gate.

Both kids did great on the plane, but Ella definitely did not like the confined space for that length of time. Fortunately, we flew during her nap, so she passed out 40 min before the plane landed.

We arrive in Honolulu 30 min early, with the 90 degree hear welcoming us right off the plane. One we got our car, we were off, with stops at a sushi restaurant, the grocery store, ice cream and an unexpected mall game store along the way, as we tried to kill time before checkin at our hotel.

We arrived at the hotel and marveled at the old style architecture (but didn’t take any pics- to come) while waiting for our room. The hotel is at the resort wherever Agnieszka’s conference is taking place. 

After we settled in our room, it was time for beach and pool, which sounds relaxing , but mostly consisted of us trying to keep Ella from drowning herself in all bodies of water. On our way to the beach, we watched (imprisoned but still playful) dolphins swim around our walkway.

The night ended with take out Thai food and beer with our friend Chris, while trying to hold off Ella’s exhausted meltdown for another hour. Both kids saw the sunset but may not have eaten much food before passing out at 7:30 local time.  Agnieszka was a little discombobulated when she took Ella back to the room and found the beds turned down for the night, the curtains drawn, and our pile of dirty laundry carefully folded. 

All in all, it was an adventurous day and we are excited and happy to be here. This is such a beautiful and gorgeous place!
