First bath

On his 8th day, August was ready for his first bath.  Babcia, Ciocia Katy, Uncle Jeff and his cousins Alex and Evan came over to help out.  While Evan was generally excited about exploring our house and trying to touch the baby when no one was looking, Alex was fascinated by the pure existence of August as a functional baby. She asked for permission to see him eat, cry (not granted), have a diaper changed, etc. Everyone at Zachary's pizza together and then it was time for the ceremonial bath. Babcia got the supplies ready, Jeff refreshed his coaching skills using the "What to Expect..." book, and then everyone crowded around Papa Daniel as he carefully got August into the warm water. The water was a bit of a shock the first few seconds, but the kid settled in and seemed to rather enjoy it. Afterwards, he was more alert, relaxed and awake than he had been all day!

Welcome August!

Augustyn Laymond Hamilton was born on April 11, 2014 at 2:01pm.  He came out crying like a champ, opened his eyes within a few minutes and had the right number of fingers and toes.  His Papa followed him to the nursery, for the customary first bath, while Babcia, Dziadek and Ciocia Katy watched from behind a window.  Afterwards, he was placed on his Mamusia's chest and the whole family was united.  As soon as he got his own hospital room, August met his Grammy and Grampy via Facetime and settled comfortably into his first 24 hours on this planet.
