April Happenings

 April brought more warm weather and outdoor play. Most importantly, after his birthday, Auggie got to return to part time in-person school!

Bodega Bay Family Trip

In April, Keith and Jacci flew in to visit from Tulsa and our whole family got together for a fun few days in Bodega Bay. We rented the same house we had stayed in several years ago, with fond memories of hot tub soaks, movie nights, and late night jigsaw puzzle successes.  

          Everyone had a fun time together.  

Our first full day there, we decided to go to the local beach.  Unfortunately, it was so windy, even the kids had a hard time having fun. There were some hilarious moments of us trying to put up a wind/shade structure that threatened to fly away any time it wasn't packed full of people. 

That evening, Jeff ran an incredible beer tasting for us, which he had put together after many hours of research.  Everyone was impressed.  That large can of Bud Light was not finished, despite valiant attempts at "research" tasting.

The following day, Auggie's friends Maya and Colin and their families joined us in Bodega Bay for Auggie's birthday celebration.   We started the day with a beautiful (and a challenging) kayak trip up Salmon Creek, after initial plans to kayak the Bay itself were cancelled due to high winds.  The trip started out with a paddle west towards the backside of Salmon Creek Beach, where we were able to take a rest and play in the beach dunes for a while. 

Afterwards, we paddled back east up Salmon Creek....until we ran aground on a sand bar.  There, the kids played, swam, had water fights, and munched on yummy snacks before padding back down the creek again. 

After our kayak trip, our friends joined us in a birthday celebration back at our rental house. Due to covid precautions, we hosted everyone in the open door garage, which happened to have a pool table!

Sadly, we had to return home the next day.  Here are the 3/4 of the cousins enjoying a rare soda while stopping by a local Bodega Bay Fish and Chips shop.

 

Auggie is 7 years old!

Our sweet and silly monkey turned 7 this month!

This kiddo remains full of joy, imagination and heart. His stuffie owls have their own beds, pillows and blankets and he tucks them in at night. He is outgoing, incredibly caring of others, and kind.

Favorite activities include collecting seashells, rock climbing, gymnastics, playing football with his cousin, building forts, and building cardboard box homes for his future pet hamster.

Favorite books include Humphrey the Hamster series and the The Faraway Tree

series.

Favorite food: Taco Bell soft tacos with beans- he can eat 4-5 in one sitting.

He is about to start in-person school with his favorite teacher of all time next week (Mrs. Gay) and I’m pretty sure he won’t stop smiling until then.
