Agnieszka and Daniel were both able to take a few days off after Christmas day for family fun. There were lots of late pajama mornings and playing with new Christmas toys.

On January 1st, after the Parkers returned from Arkansas, we had one more Christmas celebration and opened the last of the Christmas gifts.
The Oakland Zoo does an annual Zoo Lights celebration around Christmas time. We didn't have time to go until early January. Good thing: it was not crowded and we got to ride the beautiful new gondola without waiting in line. It did happen to be one of the coldest evenings of the year, however. On our way to the zoo, we grabbed a delicious dinner at a hidden gem Thai Restaurant in East Oakland, Old Weang Ping. The kids had a fun time playing with the camera phones while waiting for our food.

When you take the gondola to the top of the hill in the zoo, you get to a nice (and warm!) food area. They were serving delicious hot chocolate and it warmed up everyone! (Ella got baby crackers.)
