November adventures

November started off feeling like a prolonged summer - with ongoing distance learning at home.  The boys were so well settled into their study routines, that we occasionally had virtual classes outside to break the monotony.  Given the warm days, there was still far more play than anything else, as it should be during a worldwide pandemic.

November eventually did bring some rain.  There was one day when the kids were at Babcia and Dziadek's house and got to enjoy a downpour, followed by a warm bath, dry clothes and some ice cream!

During this month, Daniel and Agnieszka took the rare opportunity to have a "date weekend" together, while family watched over the offspring.  We returned to our favorite past wineries in Amador County and visited the nearby Chaw’se - Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park, which is on former Miwok land and has the largest collection of mortar sites in Norther America.  We had a beautiful walk through the forest just minutes after a hailstorm had passed through. 

Our Thanksgiving was a little different this year, as Agnieszka had to work and self-quarantine in a hotel during that time.  Though missing dinner with family was sad, there were a few silver linings: a (hopefully) once-in-a-lifetime Thanksgiving Hospitalist Group photo in PPEs, and quiet hotel evenings spent working on jigsaw puzzles and listening to Auggie read me books in the evening.  Daniel dressed the kids up for Thanksgiving dinner and took adorable pictures, and once everyone was together, we had a zoom "meeting" with Jacci and Keith in Tulsa, Agnieszka in her hotel room and the rest of the family at Babcia and Dziadek's house.
