August brought more evening walks. Agnieszka and Daniel would take turns walking with Auggie, sometimes far past dusk (so we started wearing visible safety vests on our streets). Favorite destinations included a neighborhood house decorated with life-sized animal figures - we call it the "zoo house" - and the nearby golf course. Ella joined us for briefer versions of the walks. She even promised to walk carefully and outside of the white line (see photo below), so that a car would not "step on my toes".
We also convinced our friends to go on walks with us!
In mid-August, Auggie started school - virtually. Ella joined him in the endeavor; and a week later, so did Evan. It took the kids (and teachers) a little bit of time to settle into the groove, but everyone was still enthusiastic.
A special perk to being home was that the kids got to watch "Veggie Videos". This was a half-hour of videos of their choosing, in front of several large plates of veggies - prior to lunch. After a while, the kids were consuming so many veggies (5lbs carrots, multiple cucumbers, peppers and green beans-all in one week) that it was hard to keep the fridge sufficiently stocked.
We continued to appreciate Babcia and Dziadek's pool - and retirement! It was not unusual for the kids to come swim every other day, sometimes more often. Night swimming remained special and rare, so of course, the boys wanted to swim naked.
There was still plenty of play at home. Ella began to have fun dressing up. Summer dresses are her favorites.
